Goodbye America!

Well I left Los Angeless on Monday, January 17 at 11:55 PM and arrived in Australia on Wednesday, January 19th at 7:55 AM. The flight was quite nice. I sat next to a young girl named Siobhhan (pronounced shh von) and her Mom (or mum), Annette. They are from a place north of Brisbane called Townsville and were returning with the rest of their family from a three month vacation in the States. These were my first Aussie's to really talk to and they were so kind. We talked for a long while before enjoying our dinner around 1:30 AM. After dinner all the lights went out and it was night time! I slept great except there was a stretch of about an hour where we experienced some heavy turbulence. It was a pretty rough ride and Siobhhan actually got sick and threw up a few times. I felt bad for her but there was not much anyone could do to help. In those moments, you really just have to ride it out, kind of like you would if you were sea sick. I have experienced both cases and they are both miserable. Anyway, after a good seven hours of quality sleep, the lights came back on and I woke up to enjoy another warm meal; this time breakfast!

We finally landed in Brisbane and Siobhhan and her family helped orient me to my next departing flight to Melbourne. I am going to Melbourne for a few days for the Australian Open and am also avoiding the flood crisis going on in Queensland. Blogging on that to be continued.........

Anyway, the flight and the people I met were very nice, so it was a wonderful way to start my trip.

Family I sat next to.

Yummy dinner!

Obviously, I enjoyed it.

Seven hours of quality sleep.

Touch down in Australia!
