New Zealand earthquake in Christchurch

As you may have heard, there has been another natural disaster in this part of the world; this time occurring in New Zealand. A 6.3 magnitude earthquake hit the Christchurch region of New Zealand’s south island today around lunch time. My roommate Dave had been there the last week and a half and just returned back to Australia this morning.  He left the Christchurch airport only hours before the quake hit, so were thankful that he is all right. Sadly, there are many families grieving and still searching for lost loved ones.  The death toll is at 65 right now and is expected to double as they are estimating that nearly 200 people are currently trapped in the rubble. Australia and New Zealand are in very close relations and have been helping one another during this season of horrible natural disasters.  The Prime Minister described this as one of New Zealand's "darkest days.”  My thoughts and prayers are with New Zealand tonight.

P.S. Sorry for all the depressing blog posts but this is what's happening in my part of the world.

A fun, happy, exciting, and cheerful blog post will follow this one.
